Proposition D
Endorsed Vote: No Endorsement
Proposition D allows non-citizen parents to vote in school board elections.
Prop D is good for students:
-Because parental involvement in children's education improves student success & enriches school communities
-It's committed to increasing the participation , access & influence of all parents, especially those currently under-represented in school decision making
Prop D is good for schools:
-Because currently schools with higher immigrant parent populations are politically disenfranchised in comparison to other schools with more parent voters
Prop D is good for San Francisco:
-Because it would show an equal amount of parent involvement
-Seeing that their parents vote for school board also shows students their parents care for them and their community
-With everything thats going with the anti immigration laws and policies, this prop would embrace and support non citizens to contribute to their community
Proposition D is supported by:
Every member of the Board of Education, The Teachers Union, as well as many diverse community organizations, institutions & leaders
Proposition 24
Endorsed Vote: No Endorsement
PROPOSITION 24
This proposition would repeal recent legislation that allows businesses to lower their tax liability.
Proposition 24 does not raise taxes on businesses because none of these tax breaks have gone into effect.
It would prevent corporations from receiving eligible tax breaks. It would end 1.3 billion dollars in breaks
a Vote NO on prop 24 means:
Businesses would be able to deduct losses in one year, versus income in more situations
More multistate businesses could choose to have their California income determined based on single sales factors
A business would be able to share
its tax credits with related
businesses.
A vote YES on prop 24 means:
It makes it harder for businesses to deduct losses in one year.
Voting Yes on Proposition 24 will keep taxes for large corporations at their current level.
Multistate businesses would have its California income determined by calculations using three factors.
A business would not be
able to share tax credits
with related businesses.

Proposition 25
Endorsed Vote: Yes
Caitlin Towne
Propotion 25 will allow the budget to be passed with a simple majority rather than the current 2/3 vote. It will do 3 basic things: Reform the budget passing process by requiring only a majority vote, legislators will not get paid if they do not pass the budget on time, and it will keep the 2/3 vote required to raise taxes. Vote YES on 25! It helps students like us!!!
Proposition 23
Endorsed Vote: No Endorsement
This proposition would suspend AB32 which sets limits on carbon emissions. People for it argue it would stimulate the economy because companies would be able to hire more people if they don't have to spend money on regulating their emissions. People against it argue that it's just another way for oil companies to keep polluting unchecked and it's harmful to our health.

Endorsed Vote: no
•Proposition 23 aims suspending implementation of California's air pollution control law (AB 32) until unemployment rate drops to 5.5 percent or less for a full year. But since 1970, the state unemployment rate has dipped below 5.5 percent for a full year only 3 times..
•Supporters of Prop. 23 say "even with the enactment of AB32, California by itself cannot eliminate enough carbon emissions to change the global warming problem" But I believe that we can not depend on the fossil fuel which can be dry out in some point. Developing clean energy is important for all of us.
•I want to ask something to oil companies who support Prop 23. Do you really put the 63 million dollars, which supposed to be paid for the state's climate change program, for creating new jobs for low income labor? I cannot believe that.
_____________________________
Tara Chavez:
With California being a leader of the clean energy movement, many states are looking at the fate of this bill to determine their own involvement in the movement. If a setback is seen in California, it is more than likely that the rest of the nation’s progress toward clean energy will be halted. This passage or denial of Proposition 23 will stand as an example for the entire United States. As citizens of this country we should all strive to hop for a cleaner environment as wells as look to create a more sustainable future.
(comments: I do not agree that AB32 should be suspended because it is important to keep the environment clean. We can not keep trashing our home, and just try to swipe it to the side because eventually that garbage will come back to us. We need clean air, and having the airpolluted would bring so many diseases and illnesses if we suspend AB32. I voted no on prop 23. Xacil Vazquez)
------------------------------------------------------
Proposition 23 is a huge controversy, it generates debate between the fight on Global Warming and the large oil and energy companies, that would benefit from the initiative. Being that the oil and energy companies will solitarily gain from the initiative if passes a no vote is necessary. I would also cause a huge strain on the environment and the clean energy jobs that employ millions of Americans. It would also put a stop on the clean energy efforts for example using wind and solar energy.

Endorsed Vote: Yes
-In office 30 years ago for 8 years as governor.
-Mayor of Oakland in 1998, and re-elected in 2002.
-Has in-depth knowledge of the workings of the state government, where Whitman is using the "outisder's" approach, which is the same strategy Schwarzenegger used and failed at.
-His 4 goals as mayor were to:reduce crime, revitalize downtown, encourage educational innovation, ans promote the arts, which he succesfully did.
-During his time as governor, California created 1.9 million new jobs, almost double the national rate.
-He adopted policies encouraging renewable energy and made CA the world leader in wind, solar, and geothermal generated electricity.
-His plan will produce half a million new jobs in research, development, manufacturing, construction, installation, ans maintenance over the next decade.
-He is against air pollution, including release of carcinogens into the air.
Brown has knowledge of how to work the state, including the unions. He is politically savvy where Whitman's vision is to use the business strategy, which will hurt CA's education and health system. Brown has detailed and developed plans to reshape CA for the better.
